On a previous page (Investing Fundamentals), we stated that one way to grow your wealth is to grow (your) smaller business into a bigger business. But maybe you don’t have a business. You’ve been working for a company… someone else, for your entire career.
You can still participate in wealth building through the growth and profitability of other businesses. You know this, of course, or you wouldn’t’ be on this website.
The vehicle for participating in profits and growth is the public stock market. The most popular of these are the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ – a largely “tech” oriented trading platform.
Public companies have their ownership divided into Shares of ownership (equities). You purchase and sell these shares, at will – for the most part – on either of these 2 exchanges or perhaps another, less popular one. You buy your share of ownership at a lower price and you sell it at a higher price. It sounds simple, doesn’t it?
There are a variety of business strategies for increasing your wealth through the ownership of publicly traded companies via these exchanges.
